Communicating Physics to Kids
Week 1 – Lecture (1 hour)
Why? What? How? Who? Where?
An introduction to the importance of communicating science to children.
We look at the role that Science Centres have to play in communicating
science to children. Including an overview of GSC, its Education Programme
and how we can support the 5-14 Curriculum.

Week 2 – Workshop (2 hours)
Trying it for yourself…
We will explore some of the kit that GSC uses to deliver physics-related science shows and spend some time experimenting. At the end of the workshop, students will use the kit to perform their own short demonstration of a physics concept aimed at school-aged children.

Before that, she spent almost 3 years at the University of Strathclyde involved in other public understanding of science activity and in student recruitment for the Physics Department.
One of the main outreach projects at GSC is the education outreach programme - the Royal Bank Science Circus. This is made possible through funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland and support from the four West of Scotland Universities. The Royal Bank Science Circus takes hands-on exhibits and science shows into schools and communities and is staffed by trained students from the Universities.
