Travel

The city of Glasgow can be reached by air (to Glasgow airport, GLA), by train (arriving either at Central Station or Queen Street Station), or by car. Travel from the airport to the city is most convenient by taxi (~£10-20). There is also an airport bus that leaves from the airport (just in front of the terminal building) and goes to the Buchanan Bus station, which is about a mile from the department. General visitor information is available on the university website. A map of the John Anderson campus shows Queen Street Station while Central Station is just off the map at the bottom left. There is also a map showing the location of the Department of Physics in the John Anderson Building and the Colville Building. Access to the John Anderson building is from the North on level 4 or 5 or from the south on level 1. After about 6pm, only the entrance on level 5 remains open. By car, you have to drive onto Rottenrow East from High St in a westerly direction. Car parking for visitors is available on request. The main secretarial offices are on level 8. In case of a problem, call Catherine Cheshire at (0141) 548-3132.
