Dear all,<br>

A few people have enquired about the current process for gaining
credit for non-SUPA courses. Requests for credit are dealt with by
the Graduate School Management Committee on a case-by-case basis,
based on the criteria below. <br>

Criteria for Non-SUPA Courses</b><br>
<u>Assessment</u><br>
All Non-SUPA Technical Courses must be assessed to be eligible for
credit. If no assessment procedure exists for the course, it is the
student’s responsibility to agree an assessment method with the
lecturer and their supervisor. This will then be considered by the
Graduate School Management Committee.<br>
<u>Relevance</u><br>
For credit to be granted, the student must be able to demonstrate
that the non-SUPA course is relevant to their course of studies and
that there is no SUPA alternative course. <br>
<u>Applying for Non-SUPA Course Credit</u><br>
Students will not be able to apply directly for non-SUPA credits.
However, individual and unusual cases may be considered via the
GSMC.<br>

If you have a PhD student who would like credit for a non-SUPA
course, please provide me with:<br>
(1) the course details<br>
(2) a statement on the relevance to the student's project <br>
(3) details of the assessment procedure and the student's mark <br>
so that I can present the case to GSMC. Please provide these
details on a single A4 page.<br>
