students (final year undergraduates identified through the
HESA Student Return) will be contacted by Ipsos MORI to

should by now have received promotional posters for the
survey, with additional materials to follow. Electronic
materials are also available on the Student Surveys
SharePoint site which you can use to promote the survey via
email, plasma screens, etc. Guidance on promoting the survey
and improving response rates provided by Ipsos MORI is also
available on the site. Promotion of the survey must be done
on a neutral basis, i.e. encouraging students to give their
honest opinions of their experience. Any attempt to
influence students’ responses is taken very seriously by the
funding councils and could result in penalties against the
institution. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">It
is important that as many students as possible provide their
feedback in order for the survey to generate reliable
information. We need to achieve a response rate of at least
50% at institution, course and subject level (combined with
23 respondents per cohort) in order for our data to be made
publicly available and included in the Key Information Sets
(KIS). Last year we achieved an overall response rate of 67%
and we would like to see an even higher rate this year. Your
support in encouraging students to respond will be a
critical part of this. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
