year take place on Thursday 19<sup>th</sup> June 2014 in the
Barony Hall. As part of the day, PGR students are given the
opportunity to present their research via a poster presentation,
with the top 4 poster presenters being awarded a prize of £250,
presented to the winning students by the Principal. I have
attached further information about the poster presentations and
the training that is provided to support this.

We are currently trying to promote this initiative to all
PGR students, and it would be greatly appreciated if you
could forward the below email and attachment to all your
staff (Research Directors & Supervisors) within your
department and ask them to encourage their PGR students to
take advantage of this opportunity.
<p class="MsoNormal">It is an excellent opportunity and
previous winners have went on to claim poster prizes at
major events including SET for Britain at Westminster.
Please note that the students will receive 8 PGR credits
for participating in this training and that the deadline
for receipt of their abstracts is 24th March 2014.<br>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Now in its 8th consecutive year, the
University of Strathclyde Research Day is a one day event
celebrating Strathclyde’s research achievements, as well
as providing an opportunity for the interdisciplinary
sharing of good practice in research and a vehicle for
promoting effective collaboration.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As part of Research Day 2014, we
welcome the exposition of current research by postgraduate
research students, with cash prizes of £250 awarded to the
four top rated posters. Winning posters will be those that
demonstrate excellent communication of the justification
and outcomes of the research to a non-specialist audience.

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Poster presentations at URD 2014 are
open to all postgraduate research students. Space
limitations mean that only the top 100 abstracts will be
selected through a peer review process. Poster training
sessions are offered to the 100 successful presenters. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Candidates are required to submit an
abstract of up to 300 words on the work they wish to
present at the University Research Day, with successful
candidates being invited to present a poster at University
Research Day on the 19<sup>th</sup> June 2014. All
abstracts should be submitted via the on-line submission
form, which can be accessed from the website at:
