<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html charset=us-ascii"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;">Dear all,<div><br></div><div>we are preparing to release the project booklet for 2014-5 next week on MyPlace. Given the record numbers of students about to enter 4th and 5th year, our current provision capability is borderline, to say the least; From previous experience, Tim and I reckon that we would require <b>a further 10-15 titles</b> to be able to allocate a project from their top 3 choices to most (say 90%) of the students.</div><div><br></div><div>The original project call was made in July. As a reminder, Plan A was for each academic to provide 3 project titles. We have not reached this target, not even on average. </div><div><br></div><div>We had two Plan Bs: </div><div><br></div><div>B1) Postdocs with the appropriate qualification in PhD supervision eligible to submit and supervise projects, with academic approval from their own supervisors; </div><div>B2) Students required to "double up" on certain projects if a suitable alternative cannot be found.<br><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>This email is therefore a Final Call for new projects for 2014-5. Our current status is summarised in the attached spreadsheet. </div><div><br></div><div>Please submit your Project Descriptors to Tim on the appropriate form, ideally this week or in any case before next Thursday 25 September.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Best Regards,</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Kevin</div><div><br></div><div apple-content-edited="true">
