Dear All,

(nb. Please discuss proposals with Research Director/HoD before
sending in to vice-Dean)

EPSRC is making available up to £50m to refresh and update
experimental equipment - see attached call. The bid needs to made
up of "bundles" (greater than £500k and with all items above 10k).
I am seeking proposals for equipment bundles from science, or
combined science-engineering. Please aim at £600k as a
£2.4M University bid composed of 4 bundles seems a good initial
target - although larger or smaller bids are not excluded.

It is important that the equipment is aligned with EPSRC research
and it will help if it aligns to areas where we have strong EPSRC
funding. Equipment sharing is very important to EPSRCs and it
should be clear how the bundle provides a resource to a wide set
if users in the University and region.

Note the following from the call:
Bundles can consist of:
• Equipment meeting particular departmental or discipline
requirements
• Equipment for multi-disciplinary research areas (for instance
straddling several departments or for research centres)
• Equipment that will be used across a regional grouping of
universities

Please write max 1 page listing/describing the equipment and max 1
page justification (inc. research quality, strategic fit, impact).

The deadline for the 2-page proposals (emailed to me) is 5pm on
Weds 5th November.

Regards,
