<p class="MsoNormal">We are constantly striving to give our students a feeling of welcome and being a part of the Physics family. As has already been announced at e.g. DC it has therefore been decided that as part of the new 1st year structure
<b>all students should meet with their PDAs</b> immediately after the 1st day welcome meeting. After a brief introductory chat the PDAs should then bring the students to a student-staff coffee morning. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The 1st day talk has been arranged for <b>10am on Monday 10th September</b>, which means
<b>staff should be available to meet with their PDA students about 10.45</b> and bring them along to (and preferably attend) the coffee morning between ~10.45am and 12pm that day.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b>You are kindly (but firmly) requested to be available for this. As you know, there is only one first impression.
</b>If for any reason you are not available please let Alison know, so someone else can look after your brood.

<p class="MsoNormal">While we are on this subject, I should mention that the Student Inauguration Event in the Barony is pencilled in for the 13<sup>th</sup> (time to be confirmed). We (in the Science Faculty) have in the past taken some incoming fire for not
having good representation. This could have something to do with the event having been scheduled for week 1, but as far as I can see somebody has been innovative and moved it to week 0. Hence, please make an effort to attend and add to the students’ first
impression of the University.<o:p></o:p></p>
