<p class="MsoNormal">Information Services provides around 1500 student-facing PCs, which are used both for teaching and private study. These are located throughout the University Library, and in around 20 bookable rooms of varying sizes across the campus.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In Summer 2019 the software manifest on all student computers in the University Library and the centrally managed labs will change.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">There are two main drivers for this – Microsoft are dropping support for Windows 7 halfway through the next academic year and the Scottish Government have mandated that we must achieve CyberEssentials+ compliance. This has some major consequences-<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">1. Windows 10 will replace Windows 7 on all centrally managed student desktops<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">2. We have to be able to justify the entire software manifest in the student labs to auditors<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This is an opportunity to rationalise the software builds on these computers, removing obsolete products and ensuring that consistent versions are used across the campus. Therefore, it is essential that we get an up-to-date list of all
software used for teaching in these centrally supported student facilities.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The standard build will include the following core software:<o:p></o:p></p>
