Dear All,

As discussed at the DC meeting this morning, and following on
from my request below on 19th May, I would like to identify
potential staff and students for the 'second wave' and 'third
wave' return to campus - I'm referring to 'waves' as opposed to
phases to avoid confusion with Scottish Government policy, as our
first wave of research activity is likely to start in the SG's
phase 2 (to be confirmed). The dates are not set and will of
course be subject to change as the risks are continuously
evaluated, but for planning purposes I am assuming a new wave of
returns approximately every month.

Our main priority is to get the research labs back up and
running, and so I ask you to please consider technical and
research staff and PhD students in your groups that have not
already been identified in your request for wave 1 access. If
they are not granted access in wave 1, they will automatically be
considered for wave 2. For each individual, please state whether
you would prefer to have access for them in wave 2 or wave 3, and
the reasons why.

There may be researchers within theory groups who should also be
considered for early return. It would be helpful to identify any
research or academic staff member in your groups who may need
access in waves 2 or 3, outlining the reasons why. Note the
expectation that home working will still remain the preferred
option for those who can work from home.

Please complete and return the attached form to me by 5pm
tomorrow (27th May). This will enable me to get our preferences
and requests to RRDG to help shape the University guidance. Thanks

Regards,

Dear All,

Following the first meeting of the University's Return and
Resume Development Group (RRDG) and the Executive Team (ET)
meeting yesterday, I have received an urgent request overnight
to identity staff to be considered for a ‘first wave’ return to
campus, in anticipation of an expected gradual relaxation to the
lockdown in the coming weeks. The ET's expectation is that the
first staff to return will be research teams and their support
staff, particularly those requiring priority lab access.

The turnaround is very tight and I need to reply with a list
later today, for the Faculty to consider ahead of a meeting
tomorrow morning. Members of the Department's Leadership Team
will consider the submitted documents and prioritise the
requests.

If you would like your research team to be considered for this
first wave of access (likely in June), please complete and
return the attached form to me by 3pm today. Due to the very
short turnaround time, brief details and justification is fine.
We will come back to you later for more details.

There will be second and third waves of return (to be defined,
but likely to be July and August). If you would prefer to be
considered for the second or third wave, then please also let me
know. There will a deadline next week for that.

I'm sorry for the very short notice, but the request only came
in overnight. Please complete what you can today and submit
additional details when time permits. Thanks
