<p class="MsoNormal">I attach the instructions released to students that outlines what is expected from the First Report. Students have also been informed:<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">“You should discuss [the report structure and content] with your supervisor who can provide general feedback but is not expected to rewrite text or perform iterative rounds of revision.”<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">It is due Noon Monday 11<sup>th</sup> January 2021 on MyPlace in PDF format. A report template in Word or LaTeX format will be provided soon. This is required to be used without alteration to font, sizes, or spacing.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">No new results are expected in the First Report, this should be reserved for the Second Report. Students should demonstrate in the First Report sufficient background knowledge, understanding, and skills before tackling more independent

 research. It goes beyond previous years’ Literature Reviews, both in length (~12 pages) and treatment of the subject (should contain some critical analysis of existing work).<o:p></o:p></p>
