<p>Dear All,</p>
<p>Following on from the previous communication re Semester 2 Formal
Assessments (exams).</p>
<p>You should now have a MyPlace quiz version of the exam. We have
had 2 x Zoom sessions where we helped some staff with quiz
questions. <br>
</p>
<p>We have put up information on the Physics Playground on Myplace:
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://classes.myplace.strath.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=25066#section-2">https://classes.myplace.strath.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=25066#section-2</a><br>
</p>
<p>The 1st Toggle (<i>Exam information Semester 2 2021</i>) gives
information on format etc. It includes a link (<a moz-do-not-send="true" href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bH5dqYiLIGSx8UnFXXHkbJchhXxHmw5K/view?usp=sharing"><b>Exam
preparation spreadsheet</b></a>) to the online spreadsheet
that gives the exam timetable and that <b>exam setters and
checkers should complete</b> by end of next week - see email
below <b>Deadline Thursday, 1 April. </b>You may well need to
add the checker to the module's Participants as a Tutor to allow
them access to the quiz. (This is done via the Navigation box on
the LHS of the main page:
Classes>PHXXX>Participants>Enrol users) Please also give
the module organiser's (or their stand-in) University phone number
and their personal contact number. The office phone number will be
diverted to the personal number from 9AM until 5PM on the day of
the exam. This will allow students who have encountered serious
problems to contact you directly. <br>
</p>
<p>The 2nd Toggle (<i>PHXXX Written Assessment section: Date &
time</i>) gives an example of how a Myplace exam should look and
the information provided to the student. <br>
</p>
<p>This Toggle should be hidden on your module page ('Edit' and
'Hide section' on the Toggle). Once checked, this Toggle can be
made visible to the module students before the exam date <b>so
long as the exam quiz (here: PHXXX Written Assessment) has had
the correct timing set so that it is unavailable to the students
until the timetabled exam begins</b>. You can do this by editing
the quiz PHXXX Written Assessment>Timing> : set the opening
time to 10:00 and the exam date; set the corresponding closing
time to 13:00 and date; and ticking the Enable tick boxes. Please
set "When time expires" to "Open attempts are submitted
automatically". If you are not sure about this, then please simply
'Edit' and 'Hide' the PHXXX Written Assessment quiz from students
as has been done for the quiz in the Physics Playground.</p>
<p>Thanks & regards,</p>
<p>Brian.<br>

<p>Dear All,</p>
<p>Please see attached the guidance notes for the Semester 2
Formal Assessments (exams) issued to students and the exam
timetable. Also attached is further staff guidance. If you are
setting exams, please read and familiarise yourself with these.<br>
</p>
<p>We are now in the run-up to getting all of the forthcoming
exams submitted, checked and running on Myplace. To enable this
some deadlines must be met. <br>
</p>
<p>1) Please ensure you have the exam set up on Myplace in the
quiz format: <b>Deadline Friday, 26 March.</b></p>
<p>2) The exam checker should then check for correct formatting of
the Myplace questions (variables in italics etc) and ensure the
equation sheets, physical constants and other relevant
instructions are available: <b>Deadline Thursday, 1 April.</b></p>
<p>3) The exam checker should then check that the Myplace
questions function correctly and give correct answers: <b>Deadline
Thursday, 1 April.</b></p>
<p>To help record progress there is an online spreadsheet for the
exam setters and checkers to complete: <br>
</p>
<p><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bH5dqYiLIGSx8UnFXXHkbJchhXxHmw5K/view?usp=sharing" moz-do-not-send="true">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bH5dqYiLIGSx8UnFXXHkbJchhXxHmw5K/view?usp=sharing</a><br>
</p>
<p>Please can the exam setter put their initials in Column F when
they are ready for the exam to be checked - please also arrange
an exam checker. Can the exam checker then initial Columns G and
H when they are happy that the exam is in the correct format and
the questions function correctly.<br>
</p>
<p>We will have a drop-in <b>Zoom session on </b><b>Tuesday, 16
March at 3pm</b> where we can answer any questions you may
have:<br>
