<div class="">. This is a short programme which runs over the summer where the learners spend a few hours per week over a 6 week period on campus engaged with contributions from each department. This is then followed by a short placement in industry which is
arranged with support from Enable Scotland. Enable Scotland have been in discussion with the Science Faculty about expanding the programme beyond Business and an agreement has been reached that Science will be the next Faculty to deliver our version of Breaking
Barriers. </div>

<div class=""><i class=""><u class="">Breaking Barriers - Science</u></i> will run over a total of eight weeks between September – December 2022 with each department delivering two separate 2-hour sessions. The common theme across all the departments will be
the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – <a href="https://sdgs.un.org/goals" class="">https://sdgs.un.org/goals</a>. There are 17 SDGs and there are clear overlaps with all the research within the department. The course will be pitched at
SQ Level 6, the level of Highers, and there will be approximately eight participants. Each participant will have a student mentor to help the adjustment to university life with these mentors recruited from the “<i class="">... With Teaching</i>” degrees from
each department (Physics w/t Teaching in our case). The course will have lecture and lab aspects. </div>

<div class="">At this stage I need some input on developing a syllabus for the Physics component. We will be delivering a total of four hours of material to eight students, so I am not looking for anything especially detailed. This is an excellent opportunity
to meaningfully develop our activities for Widening Participation. </div>
