<p class="MsoNormal">To current supervisors of MPhys with Advanced Research progressing to PH570, please note that they should begin their projects around now. As PH570 is worth 100 credits, this is reflected in additional project work and a longer report limit
(8 pages instead of 4 pages for PH550). Students should contact you to begin, but if they have not by the end of the week, please contact them to make them aware of the arrangements.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:12.0pt">More generally, although 5th Year project students (PH550/570) are strongly advised to remain with their supervisor/topic from 4th Year, there are the occasional student who may switch, hence
will require additional projects. This may be selected from the existing pool of PH450 projects (if suitable for extension to 5th year level) though bespoke projects are also possible with the discussion and agreement with the new supervisor. Should
you be approached by a PH550/570 student looking to switch projects, please refer them to me to discuss the matter.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:12.0pt">A reminder that assessed project work (PH450/550/570) should not have significant overlap with research performed in summer projects or similar, so as to not provide an undue advantage.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:12.0pt">Thanks to all who managed to get their PH450 project updates to me, it is not too late to amend or add projects but I’d appreciate it if they could be sent by the end of this week. Thanks also to those who have
informed me of pre-allocation of PH450 projects, I shall confirm the allocation by the 31st August (cut-off date for pre-allocation of projects).<o:p></o:p></p>
