Dear All,

It’s time to plan for the next academic year and that starts with
asking you to reserve Thursday 14th September 2023 from
14:00-17:00 to meet with all our students, compete in the
inaugural Welcome Week quiz and (if you are a PDA) to meet with your
PDA family.

In this year’s Welcome Week (Monday 11th Sept – Friday 15th Sept),
we will be focussing on building a stronger community between staff,
students and potential employers. We will be running a number of
events to welcome around 300 new and returning undergraduate
students to the Department. These events are designed to give them
an opportunity to engage with academic life and socialise with their
peers but also to start thinking ahead to their future careers.

On the afternoon of Thursday 14th September, we will have academic
family PDA meetings from 14.00 - 14.30, followed by a PDA academic
family quiz from 15:00-17:00. We would encourage all staff,
including those without PDA responsibilities, to take part in the
PDA quiz and invite their RAs along too. There will be prizes but
the bragging rights alone will be worth it!

We will be sending an Outlook Calendar invitation shortly. If you
are a PDA and have prior commitments, please nominate a suitable
replacement and let Ben
Hourahine know who that is.

We look forward to seeing you all on the 14th September.

Best wishes,

Alison, Ben & Helen
