<p class="MsoNormal">As mentioned at the Department Committee meeting, the University has launched this year’s Research Quality Review and in line with the REF criteria, the department will be reporting on our outputs, impacts, and people, culture and environment
focussed activities at the end of the summer.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The department will carry out an internal review of outputs (mainly published papers) over the period April-August 2025. Many thanks to those colleagues who have agreed to contribute to the reviewing process.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">To enable this review I would ask all colleagues to carry out the following action:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">All colleagues to propose eligible outputs in the <a href="https://spider.science.strath.ac.uk/ref/login.php">
Output Review Tool</a> as soon as they are available on the system to give reviewers ample time to review them. The deadline for proposing outputs is the
<b>31<sup>st</sup> March 2025. <o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Colleagues are asked only to propose <b>up to a maximum of 3 outputs</b> at this stage. Outputs proposed should be self-assessed
<b>as a minimum of a <o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b>3* </b>rating following the definitions from REF2021:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i><o:p> </o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>“4*: Quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.<o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>3*: Quality that is internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour but which falls short of the highest standards of excellence.<o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>2*: Quality that is recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour.”<o:p></o:p></i></p>
