<p class="MsoNormal">This has been a good day!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">First of all a big thank-you to all of you for your contributions today and indeed for input over the last few months from those of you, who helped put the self-assessment document together. However, I cannot emphasize enough, that throughout
this process there has been one source of help, that has been absolutely fantastic – that of Catherine. I am sure there has been obvious problems that never hit us because of her and other ones, that I never found out about because she had already solved them.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Anyway, the review team was ‘hugely impressed by the Department’ talking about ‘impressive research’, ‘a positive outlook building on accomplishments’, ‘good plans for the future’, and ‘all staff being well engaged’. A number of challenges
were highlighted and largely ones we knew about already: maintain/improve REF environment, student recruitment, KE, the reliance of a certain individual for teaching, etc. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We are now expecting a report, which we get to reply to, but I have a feeling that this is going to be a helpful document providing us support in the way we are taking the Department forward and to a large extent ammunition for the discussions
we are going to have with the Faculty. <o:p></o:p></p>
