Please can I encourage people to sign up for the seminar described below for Thursday this week. It will be a very interesting talk and discussion on the application of sensor technologies in a number of environments, particularly in space
science.

I would like to invite you to attend a seminar on Thursday 10th March (2pm) in Royal College R2.15, where Dr Damien Weidmann will be presenting his research on mid-IR optical gas sensing – “Middle infrared tunable laser
spectroscopy for molecular sensing: from space to terrestrial applications”.

Damien has been a research scientist in the Space Science and Technology Department of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL Space) since 2004, where he leads the laser spectroscopy research and development activity. This presentation
will give insights into how optical sensors can be used in a number of different fields, including space research, asset management and environmental monitoring. The abstract and short biography are attached.
