<p class="MsoPlainText">We have received the great news that Alan Phelps has been awarded the IEEE Plasma Science and Applications Award (PSAC) 2017 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of Plasma Science.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText">“For ground-breaking and influential contributions to the field of plasma science, including plasma diagnostics, plasma waves, plasma-surface interactions, beam instabilities, ionospheric plasmas, magnetospheric science and novel microwave
radiation sources.”<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText">In the 30 year history of the PSAC award Alan is the only UK based plasma scientist to be awarded this prize<o:p></o:p></p>
