<p class="MsoNormal">Please find attached the details of the postgraduate (PhD) student assessments for 2016. These are separated into year group (1<sup>st</sup>, 2<sup>nd</sup> 3<sup>rd</sup> etc) so please refer to the appropriate set of instructions.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Some students who have started their PhD studies at a non-standard time (ie not with the Sept/Oct intake) may be subject to assessment in January. If you think this applies to you, please discuss this with your supervisor in the first instance
as assessment times have been agreed with them in advance.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">1<sup>st</sup> and 2<sup>nd</sup> year students should note the change to the assessment procedures for 2<sup>nd</sup> year PhD students. Specifically, from next year (2017), 2<sup>nd</sup> year students will be expected to submit a draft
journal article alongside the existing assessment requirements. We introduce this for the 2016 assessment as an optional addition only and to give notice to current 1<sup>st</sup> year students who will be affected by the change next year. Please see the details
in the ‘year 2 PhD’ attachment.<o:p></o:p></p>
