<p>The UKNC meeting this year will take place on 8th and 9th January in Cardiff.  More details of the meeting will follow soon, but please save the date in your diaries.</p>

<p>As you may know, the meeting now annually includes the Foxon Lecture, given by a UK or Ireland nitride researcher nominated by the community.  Anyone who is an employee or student of a UKNC member institution can make a nomination for the Foxon lecturer, and the UKNC committee votes on the most appropriate candidate.  Nominees can be at any career stage, but we particularly encourage nominations of outstanding early career scientists.</p>

<p>If you would like to nominate a nitride researcher for this opportunity, please email me by 11th October giving the name of your nominee and a short paragraph explaining why they would be a worthy candidate to give the Foxon Lecture.</p>
