Physics Alumnus Jerome Boutant (1999)

Jerome Boutant was an Erasmus student in the Physics Department at Strathclyde from 1998 until 1999. He currently a night-shift manager at SOITEC

I have always been interested in how things work and my physics qualification has helped me to become sustaining manager on a night shift at a company working in the field of microelectronics after five years as Process engineer for a Semicondutor foundry (ATMEL). At present, I’m responsible for managing 13 sustaining technicians that support fabrication of SOI silicon substrates in a clean room area. I particularly enjoy helping people work together to improve their skills and the company's efficiency.

The major benefit of my time at Strathclyde was that I was able to experience another way of learning things as compared to the French teaching methods I was used to.
