Return the nuclear charge of the atomic symbol.

Parameters

esym : str
Atomic symbol. Can be an array.

Returns

int
Nuclear charge, which may be an array. Set to -1 if an unknown element is requested.

Notes

Last element is Lawrencium (Z0=103).

Example

Although flerovium (Z0=114) does exist this routine returns -1.
