Hi Everyone

Please note that the University is currently looking at implementing a
new University asset register system. I do not have any information on
timescales or when the system will go live and I am also unsure of what
we will be required to do at departmental level but I will keep you
informed.

To try and cut down on possible additional work I am asking for your
cooperation in the way you identify assets on a purchase or pecos
order. At the moment, quite a few of you list code numbers with no
descriptions. This makes it impossible for us to identify what's an
asset and what the item actually is? Can you please ensure that you
include a full description of each item of equipment?

The criteria we use is any single piece of equipment over the value of
£500 on a C or S budget? If for any reason you purchase a piece of
equipment from an A budget fitting the above description you must
indicate to us that this has to be registered as an asset. We will not
automatically include it.

Finally, all computer equipment regardless of price is registered as assets.

I am currently going through the database grant by grant to ensure that
we have picked up all the relevant items, so apologies if you end up
with asset register forms for items purchased some time ago. Please
include as much information as possible and return to me.

Many thanks

Kirsten
