[Academic] FW: Scottish Enterprise Funding for Advanced Materials - Competition closes 22nd June

Hi All,

You may be interested to know that Scottish Enterprise has a competition covering the area of advanced materials.

The call is open to companies, universities and research institutes undertaking research and development activities in Scotland. We would also encourage collaborative proposals with a clear route to market. Only new project ideas will be supported, not projects that are already underway.

Companies outside of Scotland who are interested in setting up a facility here to benefit from Scotland’s  skilled workforce in advanced materials are also eligible to apply.

Scottish Enterprise are offering:

·         100 percent funding for early stage proof of concept projects

·         75 percent for technology feasibility studies

 *   Up to 45 percent for close to market R&D projects

Project ideas should take one, or more, of the following approaches:

 *   Development and commercialisation of new materials
 *   Development of new manufacturing processes for advanced materials
 *   Development and commercialisation of new hardware or software tools for the exploitation of advanced materials

The competition is open now and the final date for applications is Friday 22 June 2012.

Areas that could potentially be covered are:

 *   Smart packaging (films, inks and chemical markers for product integrity)
 *   Composites
 *   Electronic functional materials
 *   Biomaterials, textiles and hybrids for sustainable construction
 *   Coatings and surface treatments
 *   Materials for batteries and fuel cells
 *   Metals and alloys
