Dear All,
We've had a rather spotty response to my request for new FYP proposals that was sent out exactly a month ago. The email is reproduced below.
At the moment we have a shortfall of 15-20 projects for the incoming fourth year class and desperately need more. Each full-time academic is expected to offer at least 2 projects.
With only 3 more weeks to go before the start of term, this is a matter of the utmost urgency. Send your proposals to Lauren on ther attached form and DO IT THIS WEEK.
Kevin
Dear All,
Attached is last year’s project booklet, with updated class numbers and degree types.
With a deadline of 17th August, two weeks from today, I am seeking proposals for new fourth year projects (FYP) and for revised versions of those already in the booklet. (It is assumed that projects in the booklet will be available to new students unless they are actively withdrawn by the proposer.)
Last year, 57 project titles were made available to 32 students. There are many more students this year, and we need to offer around 75 projects (including those for 5th years). This is equivalent to 2 projects for each member of staff.
The FYP proposal form is attached, and you will find a tentative schedule of procedures and key dates for the upcoming session below this message. These should explain themselves, but ask me if anything is not clear.
Please send your paperwork to Lauren Angus who will be responsible for revising the project booklet. Timothy Briggs will also help me with the project allocations and arrangements for the various assessments throughout the year.
Regards,
Kevin
Tentative 2012 FYP calendar:
· Project booklet available to students from 17th September (registration week)
· Project forms in by noon 28th September (end of week 1)
· Project allocations announced 3rd October
· Literature survey submission 19th October
· Project talks – final two Wednesdays of Spring term – 20th and 27th March – to deal with large number of students
· Report submission 15th April, after Spring Break
· Vivas in week beginning 29th April, revision week
