*Dear Colleagues,*

*_Final Opportunities For Funding For Marie Curie Fellowships in FP7_*__
*As the EU Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development
2007-2013 (FP7) comes to a close in the coming months, there are calls
for proposals under the Marie Curie Programme for Research Fellowships
which should be of particular interest for Strathclyde. For the
Intra-European Fellowships (IEFs) and the Incoming International
Fellowships (IIFs), a larger financial allocation than in previous calls
will be made, with an increase of around 10% in budget from the previous
round. Some â?¬134m will be allocated to IEFs and â?¬44.5m to IIFs.
The budget for Career Integration Grants will remain constant. A few
details of these schemes follow.*
*IEFs. Under the Intra-European Fellowships, researchers with a PhD or
four years full-time equivalent research experience can come from
another EU country or country associated to FP7 to spend 12 -24 months
at Strathclyde as host University. They should not have been resident
or carrying out their main work activity in the UK for more than 12
months of the 3 years prior to application deadline. Salary of
Researcher, research costs and contribution to overheads are paid on a
100% basis by the European Commission. The call opens on 14 March 2013
and closes on 14 August 2013.*
*IIFs. Under the International Incoming Fellowships, the same terms
broadly apply, except that the researchers come from countries outside
of the EU that are not formally associated to FP7. The emphasis is more
on what we gain in knowledge from the incoming researcher than in the
IEFs. The call and deadline dates are the same.*
*International Outgoing Fellowships offer the opportunity, under similar
conditions, for Strathclyde researchers to spend a period of 12-24
months in a high level organisation in a country outside of the EU or
associated FP7 states in a manner that will benefit their research
careers. The call again closes on 14 August 2013.*
*Two closing dates also remain for Career Integration Grants. Under
these, flat rate annual contributions for up to 4 years are available to
help researchers who are early in their careers to establish themselves
â?? as such they are well suited to newly appointed such researchers.
The final calls close on 7 March 2013 and 18 October 2013.*
*More details of all of these schemes can be found at:
http://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/documents/documentation/legal-docs/marie-curie-actions-fellowships-people-wp-201301_en.pdf.
We would urge research leaders to give serious consideration to the
possibilities under these final FP7 calls relating to Fellowships.
Experienced assistance in presenting applications is available in RKES
â?? please contact Martin Gregory (martin.gregory at strath.ac.uk
<mailto:martin.gregory at strath.ac.uk>, ext. 2524). Martin, together with
Claire Nimmo (Researcher Development Programme), are at the disposal of
staff to help with the content and structuring of text in applications
for these Fellowships in ways that can make a difference in accumulating
the marks needed for success in the selection process. A Hints and Tips
Guide to writing Marie Curie Fellowships can also be found on the
Internationalisation Portal â?? please visit:

*
*Please do not wait for the issue of the calls in March 2013 â?? you can
begin or continue the process of identifying and encouraging suitable
candidates now.*
* *
*With best regards,*
* *
*David Littlejohn (Associate Deputy Principal â?? Research and Knowledge
Exchange) and Tim Bedford (Associate Deputy Principal for Research
Enhancement and Knowledge Exchange)*
