[Academic] 1st announcement of PG conference, reports and vivas for 2nd year PhD students

Please find attached the 1st announcement of details regarding

- the 2nd year PG poster session in the department on 22nd August (exact 
location to be confirmed at a later date)
- end of 2nd year reports and vivas

The 2nd year reports will be completed on SPIDER using the new 
university-wide Annual Progress Report forms. As part of your report you 
are required to upload a PDF version of your poster + a 1-page thesis 
plan. Please see attached guidance notes for details of the information 
you are required to provide on the form.

The procedure this year will be   :
- Student completes and submits parts 1A and 1B of the Annual Progress 
Report form on SPIDER.
- When the student submits parts 1A and 1B, the supervisor is notified 
and completes part 2 in advance of the viva.
- PG poster session takes place
- Viva takes place involving supervisors and viva chair (termed 
"assessor" on SPIDER). Part 3 (assessors form) is completed on SPIDER by 
the assessor at the viva.
- Student "signs off" on SPIDER acknowledging feedback received
- PG tutor or HoD adds final comments and submits, locking the report

The deadline for students to submit parts 1A and 1B of the form is *9th 
August*.
