Dear All,
Please see below information about a Fellowship scheme being run at
Strathclyde - candidate based but with strategic areas (see below -
copied from "microsite"), deadline 8 Sept.
I encourage applications from the Dept. Competition will be strong but
I'd like a good number of very high quality Physics applications in
there. I'm not aware of a Dept. quote for applications or a requirement
for HOD support or prioritisation but please let me know if you're
backing someone's application.
Regards,
Rob

Dear all
**
As you may be aware, the University is launching the Strathclyde
Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme to attract up to 50 talented early career
academics. Appointments under this scheme will ordinarily be made at
Lecturer level (with some flexibility to appoint at Senior Lecturer) and
the Fellowship will last for a period of 5 years with the expectation
that the promotion criteria for Senior Lecturer or above will be met by
the end of this period. This is similar to schemes run at other
universities, primarily Russell Group institutions. More details on the
scheme on the dedicated microsite: www.strathvacancies.co.uk
<http://www.strathvacancies.co.uk>

*Advertising Campaign*
I am pleased to confirm that the advertising campaign for the
Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme has now been launched. The
microsite is live and we have an online and print campaign in progress,
including targeted campaigning through Google and LinkedIn which will
target relevant markets worldwide. The first print advert will hit
the THES tomorrow (18 July), followed by the Guardian on 23 July and the
Chronicle of Higher Education (US) on 26 July 2013.
If you have pre-existing networks available through social media /
professional networks please do use these to spread the word to relevant
groups. Below is suggested wording to tie in with the campaign strapline:
“Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme: the UK University of the
Year seeks applications from bold, imaginative and innovative
individuals with exceptional research vision which will underpin a rapid
academic career trajectory. See www.strathvacancies.co.uk
<http://www.strathvacancies.co.uk> to find out more”
*Process*
We have set a closing date for applications of Sunday 8 September 2013
following which we will move to the shortlisting phase.
The current intention is to run a first stage quality assurance exercise
within HR to vet applications to ensure they have satisfied the
application requirements (i.e. provided a detailed CV and research plan)
and that certain key criteria have been met (the most obvious being
holding a PhD). It would then be the intention to run a Faculty level
shortlisting panel.
Interview panel arrangements will be decided once we see how the
applications are sitting and shortlisting is working first.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts or questions.
Best wishes
Lauren
