Hi Robert
Apologies for cold contacting you. I was given your name by Linda Capper
at the British Antarctic Survey.
I am inviting speakers for a Pecha Kucha event on Wed 2 Oct, 6-8pm at
The Lighthouse, Glasgow. The event is in association with the *Ice Lab:
New Architecture and Science in Antarctica* exhibition which profiles
the design of five case study research stations and highlights the
cutting edge science that takes place in Antarctica.
For this event, taking inspiration from the Ice Lab exhibition, the
theme (or starting point) is extreme/remote architecture, scientific
research, exploration and climate change/, /where//a range of
architects, academics, scientists, designers, artists and more come
together to share what this means to them.
I would really like to include speakers with knowledge of climate change
or antarctic/arctic scientific research, its impact and importance. I
wondered if you could help as this is not my area of expertise. Is this
something you could help with or do you know another ideal person? I
would also like to use some Scottish based participants and any help is
much appreciated
PechaKucha is a format designed by architects in Tokyo, meaning ‘chit
chat’ in Japanese. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal but the format
is strict – you have 20 images and can speak about each for 20 seconds,
making talks *6.40 minutes* long. They are great evenings and we get a
good mix of audience.
There is already a good line up and other speakers including David
Garcia, MAP architects, Copenhagen; Sandra Ross, Arts Catalyst, London;
Scott Porter, Masters Architecture student, Glasgow and Dr Melody Clark,
British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge.
Please give me a call or email if you need some more information. I look
forward to hearing from you.
Best
Emma
Please note I work part time on Tue – Thurs.
