Dear All,

At the recent Departmental Committee meeting we discussed the provision
of teaching by Research Staff. Many of you already contribute to the
Department's teaching, through demonstrating, lecturing , project
supervision, etc., and these contributions are very much appreciated. At
this point in time we need to ask that all members of Research Staff
provide between a minimum of 2 hrs/wk and a maximum of 4 hrs/wk of
teaching unless their contracts explicitly forbid it. This is driven in
part by rising student numbers and by reduced funds available to cover
post-graduate student teaching but also by the need to provide the
highest quality teaching and hopefully useful career development
opportunities. There is urgency as the term is about to start and Nigel
will be in contact shortly with an indication of the task he'd like you
to take on. If you want to discuss any aspect of this please send an
email to myself, copied to Nigel.

Thanks in advance for your support,

Regards,

Rob
