Subject: Knowledge Exchange Challenge
Dear Colleagues,
Knowledge Exchange Challenge
Further information is available at: https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/courseDetails.asp?course=KEC1
I would like to bring to your attention the KE Challenge, a course run by RKES, which aims to increase and support KE activity at the University of Strathclyde. The KE Challenge provides an opportunity for participants to find out more about knowledge exchange and the mechanisms and support available. Through a short series of presentations and group sessions, participants will be encouraged to develop plans and take forward ideas. A full outline of the sessions offered is given below.
It would be most appreciated if you could share this information with colleagues in your Department.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Best wishes
Tanya
Knowledge Exchange Challenge
(Registration: https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/courseDetails.asp?course=KEC1)
The KE Challenge provides an opportunity for participants to find out more about knowledge exchange and the mechanisms and support available. Through a short series of presentations and group sessions, participants will be encouraged to develop plans and take forward ideas.
The main objectives of the KE Challenge are to:
* Increase awareness of the types of KE and mechanisms to support it;
* Advance the potential impact of your research;
* Encourage engagement with external partners and collaborations;
* Increase awareness of funding and other support available for KE activity; and ultimately
* Increase KE activity across the University
The KE Challenge will be run over three sessions as follows:
27.11.13 12.00 - 14.00
The first session will provide you with an overview of what KE is, and explain the types of KE that you can engage in to disseminate your research to industry, the third sector and the public. Information will also be provided on the mechanisms to support knowledge exchange in the University of Strathclyde. This will be followed by a KE case study presentation by a Strathclyde academic, outlining how KE has helped them to progress their academic career within the University.
Following the presentations there will be face to face discussions with RKES staff about the types of KE (for example, CPD, commercialisation, KTP) you are interested in developing. Participants will then form sub-groups that are focused on one of these KE areas and will be allocated a mentor.
30.01.14 12.00 - 14.00
During the second session you will work with your allocated sub-group to investigate how you can plan for your proposed KE activities, improving your understanding of the steps you will need to take to bring your plans to fruition and consider the funding mechanisms available. Your mentor will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions. At the end of this session you should have a brief plan of your KE activity and knowledge of any funding mechanisms required. This plan should be further developed prior to the third session.
27.03.14 12.00 - 14.00
In the third session you will discuss your draft KE plan and/or funding application in your peer group, with your mentor on hand to provide support and advice. By the end of this session you should be in a position to implement your plan and submit your funding proposal if required. Your mentor will be available to provide any required support after the KE Challenge has been completed. If the group believes a fourth session is required, this can be arranged independently with your mentor.
