Hello everyone

The Nuffield Placement Scheme will be running again next year and I 
would be most grateful if you and/or any colleagues would consider 
offering placements  during the summer of 2014.

One of the main aims of the Nuffield Foundation is to particularly 
encourage students who don't have a family history of going to 
university or who attend schools in less well-off areas, although 
students from all backgrounds are able to apply.  No-one is excluded on 
a financial basis -  students' full travel costs are covered. Some 
students may also be eligible for a weekly bursary in addition to travel 
expenses. The Nuffield Foundation receives financial support 
for the placement scheme from the Wellcome Trust and the Research 
Councils UK.

*The placements help increase confidence and improve key skills 
including practical, communication, report-writing and presentation 
skills. *It also provides students with excellent experiences & skills 
to include on CV’s and personal statements. By working with professional 
scientists and engineers in a real-life environment, the students gain 
an invaluable insight into a wide variety of careers.

I have attached a copy of the provider's registration form and guidance 
notes.  At this stage I do not need final details of any projects, but 
just an indication that you may consider offering a placement and 
perhaps an indication of the research or development area.



If at all possible, please could you return the form to me by the *20th 
December.  I*f you are *unable* to participate this year, I would also 
be grateful if you could let me know.

The closing date for students will be the middle of February 2014.  If 
you can offer any projects,  I will forward appropriate applications to 
you for your consideration in early March.
