Dear All,
Please see below an email from the Faculty Office detailing support from BP for a Summer Research Internship. Rather than circulate to the students and have them approach staff it may be better if staff can identify a project they would like to offer under this scheme. A list of projects and supervisors will then be sent out to the students and suitable students identified. If you wish to offer a project could you let Timothy Briggs know by 29th January 2014.

Dear all,
Students on the following degrees in years 1 and 2 (and year 3 of IM degrees) can apply for an 8 week BP Summer Research Internship:
Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering MSci
Chemistry MChem
Mathematics
Mathematics and Physics
Physics
This internship has a value of £1,400.
As you will see in the attached application form, much of the application needs to be completed by the supervisor who will be an academic in the student’s Department. Therefore rather than us sending this directly to students from the Faculty Office I wondered if it would be more appropriate for Departments to think of possible projects first that students can apply to do? You could then forward the application form and project details to students for them to complete if they wished to apply. My concern with sending this directly to students was that they could approach the Department with project applications which were not suitable.
If you would rather we in the Faculty Office just send the attached application directly to students please let me know.
Best wishes,
Christine.
