[Academic] Tranche 3 studentship applications - deadline 27th June

Applications are invited for the university's "tranche 3" studentships, Intended to secure named excellent students who have achieved a 1st class or Masters with Distinction degree ( the examination performance of the candidate must be known)

•    Applications must be submitted by *27 June 2014* via the PGR On-line system:  http://pgrapps.strath.ac.uk<http://pgrapps.strath.ac.uk/login.php>

•    Proposals are evaluated in July with decisions announced by the 31 July 2014
•    University funding only is available and the process is managed at the University level
•    Provides a maximum of £10K per annum normally for 3 y, with the remaining funding coming from external sources (preferred) and/or Faculty/departmental/personal budgets



If you have not used the PGR online system before you will need to register before submission using your DS username and password.

Once logged in :
- click "New application"
- select "Student"
- select "Tranche 3"
- complete the remaining sections (case for support etc.).

Please include references/transcripts/supporting letter for the student as an attachment with your application.

Financial details :
- applicants are asked to specify only  what their contribution to the studentship will be and its source (e.g. group budget code, extenal source). In most cases the amount will be £5795 (this is 50% of the difference between the studentship stipend (£13863 for 2014/15) and the maximum tranche 3 award (£10000) for 3 years. A home fee waiver is expected to be paid by the Faculty.
- non-EU (international/overseas) applicants are eligible, but supervisors/groups will have to also fund the difference between home/EU fees (~£4000 p.a.) and international/overseas fees (~£16000 p.a.)

As I am handing over PG duties to Neil Hunt, any new PhD applications will come to you via Neil rather than me.
