Dear All,
As discussed at the DC on 19th September please manage the students’ expectations over feedback. Can you please do the following
1) Tell the students about a) the feedback you will provide and b) how that feedback will be delivered e.g tutorial solutions posted on Myplace, written comments in lab books
2) Let the students know the timing of the feedback, bearing in mind the Faculty’s 2 week deadline. Remember that you control the process, if you cannot make the 2 week deadline let the students know or delay issuing the work.
3) Please avoid using simple ticks and crosses on work. If a student hands something in and it is incorrect, mark as such, but direct the students to the solutions so that they can see how to solve the problem. If setting essay type questions give the class generic feedback about the common mistakes etc.
4) For assessment let the students know the assessment criteria before you set the work. This way the students know what they are working towards.
Thanks
Nigel
