Dear Heads of Department and Research Directors



The EPSRC have announced the 2015/16 Industrial CASE awards.  These awards provide funding for PhD studentships directly to businesses which take the lead in arranging projects with an academic partner of their choice.  The businesses selected for funding for 2015/16 (if they accept their allocations) are listed on the attached spreadsheet. The Vice Deans Research would like to encourage colleagues to try and secure these awards. The University will facilitate discussions with NPL.



???       Awards are allocated directly to a limited number of companies (based on the extent of their collaboration on EPSRC funded research grants).

???       Around April each year the proposed allocations are notified to companies and between May- August companies find academic partners

???       The EPSRC funding covers tuition fees, the minimum stipend and project costs

???       Companies must provide additional "top-up" funding to the student project and also offer a placement at their premises for at least 3 months

???       Students funded through the 2015/16 Industrial CASE awards must start their projects between 01 October 2015 and 01 October 2016.
