Hi Everyone,
Happy new year! I just wanted to remind you that it is very important to update your research outputs on PURE in time for the Research Audit at the end of this month. As it can take time for entries on PURE to be verified, I strongly recommend that we all have this finished by Friday, 23 January.
For some of you, this will be the first time adding outputs to PURE since the change in policy regarding the uploading of accepted author manuscripts (or “post-print manuscripts”) to PURE. As we discussed at the last departmental committee meeting, new submissions of papers to PURE will only be accepted if you upload the final version of the manuscript that was accepted by the journal as a PDF (this is your last submitted version, before the journal formatting). You will also need to enter the date of acceptance for the manuscript in the “bibliographic note” field on PURE. This change, which took effect in July last year was required as HEFCE will only accept publications for the next REF that have been submitted to PURE in this way. For more information on the policy and detailed instructions on the uploading of manuscripts, please see the document at https://moss.strath.ac.uk/research/resportal/pure/Lists/Announcements/Attachments/28/HEFCEpolicyguidance.pdf .
Very best regards,
Andrew

Hi Everyone,
Early next year, the university will conduct a Research Audit. This is a key deciding factor for strategic support of departments, and it’s important that we provide all of the information we can so that the audit team can build up a complete picture of our activities in Physics.
The evaluation will largely be based on what you have recorded in PURE, especially research outputs and impact statements. Please ensure that you have recorded all of your research outputs (especially publications!) and had them verified on PURE by 30 January 2015. In order to ensure that everything is verified and accepted, it is important to start this early, and I would recommend that you ensure all relevant information is updated by a deadline Friday, 23 January 2015.
As a reminder, it is anyway important to keep PURE up to date and ensure that post-print manuscripts are uploaded to PURE within three months of the acceptance of any manuscript. Starting from next year, this will be a requirement for any manuscript that is submitted for evaluation in the next REF. This practice of putting accepted manuscripts into PURE, which also complies with green open access standards for EPSRC, will be required for the next REF, regardless of whether publications are also made green or gold open access via another mechanism.
Thanks for your help with this and best regards,
Andrew
