Hello everyone,

this is about EXPLORATHON ’15, Scotland’s contribution to European Researchers’ Night (http://ec.europa.eu/research/researchersnight/)

EXPLORATHON ’15 (http://www.strath.ac.uk/publicengagement/explorathon/) will take place on Friday 25 September 2015. Although it’s called a ‘Night’, activities are taking place throughout the afternoon and evening at a variety of venues across Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh!

Join researchers across Europe and celebrate your research!

This is particularly important if your research is EU funded. More details below, in particular about the 31st July deadline to provide input.

European Researchers' Night is funded by the EU under the Horizon 2020 scheme and motivated by a guiding principle of ‘Research for All’. Explorathon will bring together researchers, schools and the public through lively interaction, dialogue and exploration with a common strapline of ‘One Night – Unlimited Discovery’.

The Scotland-wide programme EXPLORATHON brings together the Universities of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Aberdeen and the Beltane Network of the four universities in Edinburgh – Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier, Heriot-Watt and Queen Margaret – to simultaneously stage public engagement events across Scotland.

We're looking for a team of researchers to enthuse, inspire and wow the public throughout the West of Scotland. We need people to:

· Deliver activities* at shopping centres, e.g., Braehead
· Give talks in pubs, bookshops, cafes …
· ‘Meet the expert’ at the Glasgow Science Centre
· Engaging at museums e.g., Kelvingrove (natural sciences, art), Riverside Museum (transport, energy)

*Activities could include ‘Science Busking’ and table-top demonstrations. Training and kit will be provided.

However if you have your own activities you to deliver on the night, we would be very happy to discuss them with you. To register interest please take a few minutes to complete the survey at https://jfe.qualtrics.com/form/SV_00MltknSebBH7xz about your aspirations to take part before 31st July.

If you can help or would like more information please e-mail:explorathon-admin at strath.ac.uk<mailto:explorathon-admin at strath.ac.uk> or phone Carol Trager-Cowan 0141 548 3465.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Marco
