Dear David

I have initiated discussions within the engineering faculty regarding the submission of an application for a Strathclyde Centre for Doctoral Training (SCDT) in Fluid Mechanics. My aim is to strengthen collaboration across faculty departments (and across the university) in the area of fluid mechanics; promote Strathclyde's fluid mechanics activities to external customers, funding bodies and other academic institutions; and to explore, as a Strathclyde team, academic and funding opportunities.  The SCDT will be the first step towards the above goals.  As you can imagine, I will provide significant input into this due to my extensive network of academic and industrial collaborations in the fluid mechanics area.

As far as I know there is fluid mechanics activity within the Science Faculty and I would therefore be most grateful if you could suggest colleagues from Science to contact regarding the above initiative.
