Dear Thorsten,
I could offer a project on the role of cavity enhanced feedback on laser gain dynamics. This would be a modelling project. Essentially the project would involve looking at how feedback from a Fabry-Perot etalon contain a frequency dependent loss affects the frequency performance of a quantum cascade laser.

Dear All
As advised already in November, we need MSc projects (PH952) and for the Optical Techynology/ Applied Physics and Advanced Physics students we need to allocate them early in sem 2 to enable a literature survey to start middle of semester (PH951). The tentative timetable is reproduced below.
Some students hopefully have already contacted you about options. They are strongly encouraged to do so over the next weeks. Thanks to those of you who already indicated options.
Can you fill in the attach project description, please, and return it ideally till Mon noon (as I am meeting the students in the afternoon) and till next Thu (21/1/16) as latest.
Regards
Thorsten
PH951: Literature survey
2-3 meetings from ~ middle of sem 2

Project start: 8/6/2016
Report hand-in: 25/8/2016
Projects talks: 1/9/16 (tentative)
Project vivas: 2-3/9/16 (tentative)
