[Academic] Fwd: library journal subscriptions

The note below speaks for itself; there is once more a squeeze on journals, with one of ours in the spotlight for underuse:

The warning flag goes up when the cost/use exceeds £50. My holding position as Physics library rep. is that we should maintain the journals that we actually publish in regularly, rather than ones we just might read from time to time. Any takers for this one?

I will compile a list of other at-risk titles next week.

Dear All
The Library Budget has been announced and with inflation (and Brexit) this effectively means that we again need to make savings this year on our spend. I have been told the situation is likely to get worse next year so it would be good to trim what we can from our lists this year. The attached list for Science highlights in red anything that costs over £50 per download (please consider these carefully) and in blue anything over £30 (please also consider these). It would appear there are two titles that could be cancelled:

•        Annual Review of Astronomy and Astrophysics
•        Catalysis

Both are book series but they are subscriptions so they appear here. Luke there is also a Cardiovascular journal which I would ask you to consider. Alison could M&S review their portfolio too? Anything from Elsevier is in bold and can’t be cancelled, but we may be able to substitute titles in future so it is still worth looking at these and advising of any substitutions which could be made. It would also be helpful to look at the print journals. These are highlighted with a P and while there are not many of them and they are not that expensive if they are not being used then we could make a small saving. If I could have a response by 31st October that would be helpful. Many thanks.
