Dear Library Reps
I’ve picked out a few things from our latest Information Services bulletin that might be of interest to staff and students.
Best wishes
Elaine
Spring vacation and Easter opening
The Library is currently running to an extended vacation timetable to accommodate students wishing to revise over the spring holiday. We will be open between 7am and midnight on weekdays and from 9am to 9pm on weekends. The Level 3 enquiry desk will be staffed from 8.30am and 5pm on weekdays and from midday to 5pm on weekends.
Different opening times apply on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Full details are listed on our website<http://www.strath.ac.uk/library/openinghours/>. Flyers are available from the enquiry desks.
Exams and student wellbeing
Helping Distressed Students - A Guide for Staff is available from the Student Counselling<http://www.strath.ac.uk/studentcounselling/informationforuniversitystaff/> web page. The guide is a source of advice which will enable you to recognise when a student may be having difficulties. It lists key services available to help you to respond appropriately to students in distress.
The Library also maintains a Wellbeing Collection. See the Wellbeing LibGuide<http://guides.lib.strath.ac.uk/wellbeing> for lots of useful links, including books, eBooks and short videos.
Library discussion room refurbishment complete
Work to transform the L4 and L5 study carrels in to small discussion rooms is now complete. The new small discussion rooms are equipped with study space and AV equipment and are intended for use by two or 3 students at a time. Group discussion rooms on Level 2 are for use by 2-7 students at a time.
All discussion rooms are available for students to book up to two weeks in advance. They can do this online<http://roombooking.lib.strath.ac.uk/roombooking/index.html> or by using the wall-mounted screens beside each room.
