Subject: Horizon 2020 Draft Work Programmes 2018-2020 and upcoming deadlines
Dear Colleague,
Please find below some information on Horizon 2020 draft work programmes (2018-2020) and some upcoming deadlines.
Horizon 2020 Draft Work Programmes 2018-2020
As you may know, over the last year or two the European Commission, in consultation with Member States and stakeholders, has been preparing the next set of Work Programmes for the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The final version of these are due to be released in October 2017, however we have now received copies of some of the draft 2018-2020 Work Programmes which provide early intelligence on H2020 calls that will be launched over the remainder of the programme.
Copies of all the H2020 draft programmes we have received so far can be found here on the RKES portal<https://moss.strath.ac.uk/rkesportal/Research/funding/horizon2020/SitePages/Horizon%202020%20Draft%20Work%20Programmes%202018-2020.aspx?WikiPageMode=Edit&InitialTabId=Ribbon.EditingTools.CPEditTab&VisibilityContext=WSSWikiPage>. We would be very grateful if you could disseminate these to staff as appropriate. Please note that we have received these in confidence and have been asked to ensure that they are not circulated outside Strathclyde or uploaded to any externally accessible websites.
Members of the RKES International Team are on hand to support the development of bids and to assist in the dissemination of information relating to the new work programme. Staff can contact us for 1:1 support. We are also keen to proactively promote the work programmes so if you would like us to speak directly with groups of staff or arrange specific events then please do let me know.
Some Upcoming Deadlines:
H2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCA) Individual Fellowships Call for Proposals – deadline 14 September 2017
The current call for proposals for MSCA Individual Fellowships will close on 14 September 2017. MSCA Individual Fellowships are aimed at helping experienced researchers to advance their careers and gain new skills through advanced training, and international and intersectoral mobility. The scheme supports individual, transnational fellowships awarded to the most promising researchers of any nationality. European fellowships are held in EU Member States and are open to researchers coming to Europe or moving within Europe. Global fellowships are based on a secondment to a Third Country (non EU Member State/Associated Country) with a compulsory 12 month return phase to Europe. Researchers must undertake transnational mobility in order to be eligible for MSCA funding under this scheme (please note that if an existing Strathclyde employee has recently moved to the UK then they may still meet the mobility criteria and therefore may be eligible to apply to undertake a fellowship at Strathclyde). Further information and full call details are available here on the European Commission Portal<http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/msca-if-2017.html>.
COST Action: Upcoming deadline/collection date – 7 September 2017
COST actions are pan-European networks of researchers that promote international coordination of nationally funded research. The aim of these networks is to allow participants to jointly develop their ideas and new initiatives to enable breakthrough scientific developments. COST does not fund research itself but supports networking tools such as meetings, short term scientific missions, training schools and dissemination activities. COST actions are bottom up and can be focused on any novel, original and innovative idea from all fields of science and technology. Funded Actions normally receive financial support in the range of €129,000 p.a. for four years (subject to available budget). Networks must be composed of a minimum of 7 COST Member States<http://www.cost.eu/about_cost/cost_member_states>, amongst which a minimum number (depending upon network size) must be from COST Inclusive Target Countries<http://www.cost.eu/about_cost/strategy/excellence-inclusiveness>. Researchers can submit proposals to establish a COST Action<http://www.cost.eu/participate/open_call> or can apply to join an existing COST Action<http://www.cost.eu/participate/join_action>
The next collection date for proposals for COST Actions is expected on 7 September 2017 (call details<http://www.cost.eu/download/60570>).
I’ve attached a presentation on COST and further information is available on the COST website<http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions>.
