Dear all,

I have just signed up to attend this (free) Women in STEM conference in Edinburgh on Tuesday 15th May.
It would be helpful if one other member of staff would attend with me, as several of the parallel sessions look relevant and I can’t be in two places at once!

Details are below. Travel will be covered by the Athena SWAN budget.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks,

Gabrielle

Women in STEM Conference: A little more action

Tuesday, May 15th 2018; 10am - 3:30 pm

There is keen interest and engagement from Universities and Colleges to tackle gender imbalances at subject level, driven by the need to achieve the targets set out in the Gender Action Plan (GAP).

Equate Scotland’s Women in STEM Conference is an opportunity for you to learn from other academics, professional staff and students and explore appropriate and practical solutions that align with your institutions strategic goals to tackle gender equality. It’s an opportunity to share what is working and what is not across the academic sector.

Dame Anne Glover DBE, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and Special Advisor at the University of Strathclyde will open the event with a key note speech followed by Heather Bruce, 4th year Masters in Mechanical Engineering student, Heriot Watt University.

The event will encompass six different one hour workshops, where delegates will attend 2 out of the 6 workshops.

The conference is free to attend and refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided.
