Personalised medicine for psychiatric disorders - published in Open Biology<http://newsletters.royalsociety.org/c/11BYdKYV5XfCOmxSrauh8CNn>
Approximately 30% of the world’s population will suffer from a psychiatric disorder at some time during their lifetime. In addition to a large economic burden, there is also a personal cost to the patient, and therefore finding the right treatment is crucial.
In a recent review article published in Open Biology, Rusty Gage - President of the Salk Institute California - and his colleagues propose a shift towards a much more personalised approach, with increased use of algorithms that combine data across multiple fields, based on shared data acquired from patients across the globe.
