Dear All

I refer to the email below regarding the various road closures. It is just to remind anyone who is invigilating exams to make sure that you leave in enough time to ensure that you are at the exam location at least 20 minutes before the start of the exam.

Regards
Audrey

Subject: [all-staff] Road closures around campus during European Championships - advice to colleagues

Message sent on behalf of Sandra Heidinger, Director of Human Resources

Dear colleagues

Over the next few weeks, Glasgow is hosting a number of events as part of the European Championships - some of which will involve the closure of roads around the campus.

The main road closures affecting the University will take place on Wednesday 8 August between 2am and 9pm and will see the closure of:

* Cathedral Street (between Collins Street and North Hanover Street)

* Montrose Street (between Rottenrow and Cathedral Street; and between George Street and Ingram Street)

* Ingram Street (between Queen Street and High Street)

* High Street (between Duke Street and London Road)

This means the campus will only be accessible by road from the east along George Street - as set out in this map<https://www.glasgow2018.com/sites/default/files/Cycling%20Map%20Time%20Trial%201%20May.pdf>.

Please allow yourself extra time for your journey on this day, and consider using public or active transport options.

Access to the University car parks at McCance, Graham Hills, Collins Street, Weaver Street and Taylor Street will be maintained. A two-way system will operate on Taylor Street as there will be no access onto Cathedral Street. Curran External car park should be accessible from St James Road from Dobbie's Loan but not from Stirling Road.

If you believe that your journey to and from work will be significantly disrupted and your job role allows for it, you may wish to ask your line manager if you can work from home on this day. You will find details of the University's Homeworking Policy on the website<https://www.strath.ac.uk/hr/policiesandprocedures/flexibleandhomeworking/>.

Please note, there will also be road closures affecting access to the campus on:

*         Sunday 5 August between 8am and 5pm

* Friday 10 August - John Street, Martha Street, George Street (between George Square and Montrose Street) and Montrose Street (northbound between Ingram Street and Cochrane Street) closed.

*         Sunday 12 August between 6am and 6:30pm
For further details of the road closures please visit the Glasgow City Council website<https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=22885>.

Best wishes
Sandra
