[Academic] PH450: Project Allocation Period Beginning 10/9/2018

To those offering PH450 projects,

The General Allocation period for 4th year projects begins next week. Version 1.0 of the project booklet is now available on idrive in folder idrive/Science/Physics/project/2018_2019.

Students will want to discuss their project selections and gain signatures. To facilitate this, please inform me of your availability to see students (e.g. if you are going to be away, or only available at certain times). You may want to set a particular date and time to be available to see students. I shall collate this information and put it on a spreadsheet for students to consult. Please send this information by Monday Noon.

The number of students requiring projects this year is looking to be even higher than last year. Coupled with the reduction in available staff, this will likely mean that the average number of projects per academic/senior researcher will rise:

-          Let me know if you can take on 5 or more projects students (4th and 5th year)

-          Otherwise I will attempt to spread out the allocation evenly across supervisors (4 max per academic/senior researcher as first supervisor)

-          If you have projects that can take on more than one student, please let me know (if it isn't already noted in the project booklet)
