Subject: [Academic] Principal's Engagement Session with Physics: Monday 4th March, 9.30am-10.30am.
Dear All,
The Principal's Engagement Sessions 2018-19 have been taking place on a department by department basis over the past few months. The date and time of the Physics session has now been set as Monday 4th March, 9.30am-10.30am. A location will be identified early next week. Meanwhile, please mark this date and time in your diary. The Department Committee meeting originally scheduled to start at 10am will start after the session finishes (~10.30am).
The session will include a talk by the Principal on University level highlights over the past year or so, plus the ‘Strathclyde 2025’ vision. The Dean will talk about Faculty highlights and ambitions, and I will briefly highlight elements of the Department's strategy and ambitions. This will be followed by a group Q&A. Back at the beginning of November, all departments were asked to submit a two page summary document on their ambitions, strengths, challenges and performance, to inform the discussion. I attach the two page document for Physics, together with the relevant slides from the discussion of the ‘Strathclyde 2025’ vision at our Department Committee meeting held on 5th December.
I encourage everyone to participate in this event and to read the attached documents in advance. The session is open to all staff in the Department and is an opportunity to engage with the Principal and Dean on matters affecting our performance and ambitions.
Catherine will inform you of the venue as soon as it is known.
Best wishes,
Paul
