To staff teaching modules in 19/20:
Following a student complaint last session, the Teaching Committee has asked one of the Disability Advisers, Steven Paton, to run a training session for the Department on how to ensure that course materials uploaded to MyPlace are compatible with the Read & Write Gold (RWGOLD) software used by students with dyslexia and reading difficulties.
We would like each module leader (or a member of their module team) to attend so that we can ensure that everyone is up to date on how this software works with various types of file. It will include a discussion on making formulae and diagrams accessible, and different types of pdf.
Please feel free to pass this invitation on to any post-docs who teach and who would benefit from this session.
We have arranged the training for Friday 6th September at 2:30pm, and it will hopefully take no longer than an hour. I'll book a room in the John Anderson building.
Prior to the session, if you have any queries or would like the session to cover a specific topic (e.g. use of LaTeX), please let me know and I will pass these on to Steven in advance.
Many thanks,
Gabrielle
